Our leadership team

Errol la Grange, President, Chief Executive Global Relationships

Errol is dedicated to sustainability of people and the planet through learning that engages heart and mind with work and purpose. A respected tax lawyer, Errol worked in top tier international accounting and legal firms in three countries, always with a love of connecting with people and conveying complex matters in simple terms.

Out of this passion, a little over a decade ago Errol shifted his focus toward technology as an enabler to deliver engaging professional development more widely around the world. This led him to where he now concentrates on building relationships with world leading corporate and university experts in ongoing professional education. Through Cahoot Learning International, Errol assists it in realizing the potential of collaborative learning, scaled-globally and enabled by technology.

Errol also serves as the Vice President of Global Education Initiatives for the International Association for Continuing Engineering Education (IACEE.org), which works to support and enhance lifelong engineering education and training worldwide. His role is to develop collaborative educational initiatives to tackle 21st Century grand challenges.

Mary Simpkins, Chief Executive Officer

Mary is a catalyst for business growth with a track record of success translating customer needs into strategies that blend analysis, branding and marketing into cohesive plans that increase sales and profitability. With more than two decades leading global marketing and sales in the corporate training space she combines a deep knowledge of marketing tech with exceptional, worldwide training market and buyer insights to build processes and tools that deliver a consistent stream of leads and revenue.

A strong executive leader, Mary is an exceptional bridge builder who believes that revenue success is predicated on creating effective partnerships internally and externally. Additionally, Mary has led the open enrollment training offerings for a large multi-national training company and was a founding board member of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA). She is a graduate of Averett University in Virginia and has earned her Master's Certificate in Project Management from The George Washington University, DC.

John Walker, Chief Operating Officer

Inspired by hard challenges and dynamic environments, John delights in creating order out of chaos. John is an executive with a strong passion to lead organizations in developing and operationalizing their strategies through smart, effective execution facilitated by a best practices approach to cultural alignment, portfolio management, operations and cultural integration.

Perspectives in mega-program management as well as business development provide John with critical business insights that transform the way work gets accomplished, delivering efficiencies that drive to the bottom line. John compliments his business acumen with 15 years' direct experience in the corporate training market. This rare combination enables him to bring new and inspiring insights to answer clients' training needs.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, John also holds several post graduate certificates from Stanford University and Michigan State University in program management, entrepreneurship and innovation, and strategy.

Anthony Morris, Head of Education Innovation

As a musician and musical educator Anthony finds joy in helping create harmony between learning and technology in ways that create impact and enrich lives. As Chief Learning Officer and Head of Education Innovation, Anthony plays two essential roles at Cahoot. First, he is the visionary behind the Cahoot Learning collaborative learning platform. Second, he works intimately with clients to help them fully leverage the platform's capabilities as they adapt and build learning content to ensure a behavior-altering learning experience.

Anthony brings a fresh perspective to client partnerships enabling faculty and L&D teams to reframe their approaches and more effectively leverage learning technology. A sought after global expert on disruption in professional education he often speaks on the future of digital education. He was called upon by Stanford University to help develop and facilitate its Cahoot enabled offering of its Professional Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is the lead in developing the new MIT Professional Certificates in Strategic Leadership & Innovation and Leading in the Transformative Era.

Anthony also volunteers his time for the International Association for Continuing Engineering Education (a UNESCO formed NFP) where he co-chairs their future of digital education initiative with MIT.

David O'Brien, Chief Technology Officer

A natural developer, David stepped off the traditional IT corporate track a little more than a decade ago to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities to innovate. For the last eight years he has served as the chief technology architect at Cahoot Learning International, building the platform and its code from the ground up.

David is driven by a strong desire to solve problems. Prior to taking up his current role at Cahoot, he was a Senior Developer with British Telecom in Ireland and worked in a number of roles with Oracle in Australia. He holds a bachelor's in Computer Science form Swinburne University.

J. Scott Punk, Vice President Sales & Marketing

Scott has a clear mission, run things as efficiently as possible, stick to the critical path and make sure everyone's having fun while doing it. An expert in business-to-business sales and marketing, Scott excels at sales and marketing alignment, content-driven lead generation and increasing brand equity. He combines more than a decade of agency/consultancy experience working with technology start-ups with an additional decade creating and building go-to-market strategies in the corporate training market.

As a professional services sales leader Scott established his reputation as a closer early in his career. Consistently achieving above quota, he took on the sales director role at The ProMarc Agency guiding the agency toward growth rates exceeding 50% annually; aligning the company for its sale to Hill & Knowlton/WPP.

Scott is a recognized expert in strategy creation and execution, change management, organizational alignment and engagement, marketing automation, and go-to-market strategies that deliver bottom-line results. He holds a hybrid master's that combines social science research with the core of an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University and a post-graduate certificate from Stanford University in advanced program management. He has also served on the adjunct faculty of American University's Graduate School of Communications.

Ellen Maxwell, Vice President Programs & Instructor Relations

Ellen is an amazing people person and can drive a project and schedule like no other. She has more than two decades of experience in the learning space and is responsible for recruiting, training, and scheduling the Professional Associates who facilitate and deliver our courses. She is a strong instructor advocate who strives for delivery excellence, encourages a culture of collaboration, and inspires our instructors to perform at their peak.

In addition, Ellen leads the overall program execution to ensure every course is created and delivered with the highest quality standards. She is meticulous with details, analyzing all course and instructor evaluation feedback, continuously looking for ways to enhance the learning experience. Ellen graduated from the University of California, at Davis, and earned her MBA from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, CA.

Tom Carter, Strategic Advisor

Tom believes in building beautiful businesses that culturally place employee and client needs first and by doing so, naturally leads to organizational performance as well as profit. He is a proven executive in the corporate education and training market with a reputation for delivering significant revenue and EBITDA growth through the development and execution of business strategies that increase shareholder value. His approach to building great cultures focuses on tight strategic alignment coupled with impeccable strategic execution.

Tom's approach consistently delivers client success and growth that translates into strong brand equity and long-term financial success. An entrepreneur recognized for his expertise in leading difficult turnarounds he has led several businesses, often under challenging market circumstances, to new success. In addition to completing two successful turnarounds, he has led expansions into new geographic and vertical markets and created new revenue streams by guiding the creation of new products and services in adjacent markets.
