Big Data and....the Privacy Risks

For further details about the recording of this event please contact training@iia.org.au.

Session Overview:

Big Data initiatives are getting higher and higher visibility these days since a growing number of senior executives see this as one of the competitive advantages for their organisations.  This popularity and the spread of Big Data initiatives is set to continue to grow in the medium term.  The growth is further driven by the reports from a number of high-profile consultancies predicting significant benefits for various types of organisations.

This session will examine the challenges posed by Big Data in the area of privacy by looking at specific examples where privacy breaches may occur.  It will then provide possible remedies of such situations and will also cover the relevant legislative environment in Australia, US and UK.

It will also provide some specific examples of where further privacy breaches occur due to unsecured Internet of Things devices.
