Overview

There are several regimes specific to the operation of the GST in Australia.  This session explains those regimes and how they work.  The session includes topics such as:

  • the margin scheme
  • the new rules in relation to real estate sales and purchases
  • issues surrounding cross-border transactions

In the context of cross-border transactions, we explain the new ‘Netflix tax,’ the new treatment of low value imports and issues surrounding the importing of intangibles.

Other issues covered in this webinar include the GST treatment of reimbursements, the existence or otherwise of agency relationships and issues surrounding the use of contractors. The session also covers reverse charging and the extension of the reverse charging regime into ‘valuable metals’ and how this affects brokers and second-hand dealers.

The session concludes with a review of common errors and how to avoid these.
